How can I book you to my cafe, club, bar, or theatre?

Contact booking@brigfeltus.com for booking information.

Where did you learn to write songs?

I grew up in a musical household, but didn't start writing songs until about 5 years ago when I combined my singing experience with my poetry writing to write songs for my cousin Barbara Becker's second album.

Do you play an instrument?

I play a bit of piano and a lil' guitar, but you won't catch me anytime soon doing so on stage.

When are you touring?

Check back as we update the events calendar frequently.  Show dates and events will be posted in the events and news sections of my website, on my show calendar, and on my main myspace profile

How do I advertise with your web site?

Contact us at: pr@brigfeltus.com and someone will get back to you with more detailed information on advertising opportunities.

How do I stay updated? Do you have a newsletter?

Yes. You can sign up for the newsletter in the sign up box at the bottom of the page.

Are there still spots available on your DreamTeam?

We would embrace anyone who is truly dedicated and feels they have something unique or administrative to offer. DreamTeamers can utilize their experience for their professional resumes, and receive credit for their work, letters of recommendation, in addition to industry experience.

The positions require regular contact with a log-in board to view pending or new projects, administrative skills, public relations skills, creative spirits, and a sense of adventure.

If you have less than 2 hours a week to dedicate you may want to be a part of the Street Team and write in every now and again to see if there is anything you can help with.

Contact  pr@brigfeltus.com for more information on either position.

What's the difference between your DreamTeam and Street Team?

The Dream Team works devotedly assisting in many different areas for Brig Feltus and the Indie label, Captive Libertine. There is a level of dedication a DreamTeamer makes, which usually translates to larger tasks and several hours dedicated per week. DreamTeamers in short, are staff who truly love and believe in what they're doing.  Internship credits can be acquired in this capacity, as well as first consideration when paying positions open up in the company.  There is substantial direct interaction with Brig and gift incentives such as merchandise and all access at shows.

Street Teamers are everywhere. If you post a flyer whenever one is released via bulletin or newsletter, you're a street teamer. If you spread the word on your blogs, or run fan sites, you're a street teamer.

A street teamer has their own hours and doesn't commit to the projects a staff member would.

They support the Indie music they love by adding their favorite music to their Indie911.com hoookas, and generate word about news developments when they have the time to invest.

I'd like to intern for the label you're on. Where do I get more information for this?

Contact info@brigfeltus.com for more info.

I read an article where you talk about Musical Activism. How can I be a musical activist?

Stand for quality music that is good for the heart and soul. You can purchase good music that isn't created from overdone formulae, for the same amount you would put out for commercial music. You can take the time to set out on quests for new music, and add your findings to your blogs.

Musical Activism is about taking your power back as a consumer and taking charge of what you consume.

Many merchants think if they tell you what you like, you will allow them to dictate what they will sell you, rather than have you dictate what they should make available.

The true power is in the consumer.

What do you truly love? What makes your heart sing? Buy that. Spread the word about that.

You don't have to step into boxes for anyone. Your conscious expansion is your business. You are not a bunch of drones waiting to be ordered into the next trend.

Each individual voice is vital to world society.

I do not knock the industry's efforts to run successful businesses.  Successful businesses have to make money.  However, I do believe it is obvious we are in an era of change and the consumer has the power to effect that.  This is what musical activism is to me.  I believe it is possible for the music industry to come out on top if they listen closely to the consumer and provide them with what they want.

How do you get to all of your fan mail? Do you really read 100 messages a day yourself?

It's all about management and staying in touch. It's important for me to connect with my audience. I love my audience. I consider them friends. What I am unable to answer on any given day, I can return to when I have more time. I treasure your fan mail!

I have a Brig Feltus fan site. Would you come by and bless our page?

Thank you! This is tremendous and means the world to me.

As our forum is fully fleshed out and functioning  you'll be able to announce your fan sites.

I would love to stop in and check them out!  I will do so whenever possible!  There may be times when I just cannot, but I will try!

Someone told me that you accept Fan Art. Where do I send it?

I adore fan art. Such beautiful pieces have been sent in. The DreamTeam uses them in promotional work, and some will even appear in the first official Brig Feltus 'zine.

I accept them via loveandlight@brigfeltus.com

If you are on myspace you can also post them in the myspace blog reserved for fan art.

Do you have a forum for fans?

It's in the works for DreamTeamers, Streeteamers, Friends and Fans.

We're all fam, and having a place to pow-wow, share ideas, post pictures, and even share favorite videos/media can make for goodtimes. Our DreamTeam is cooking up the most interesting interactive experience available.

How can I get you to play at my highschool prom?!!!

Have the appropriate dept at your school contact: booking@brigfeltus.com , and someone will get back to them to advise of my availability dependent upon my current touring schedule. Being a part of such a cherished time would be an honor.

Are you still accepting remixes?

The remix contest has officially concluded.  If you are interested in doing a remix for one of the songs on the album you can contact us at info@brigfeltus.com.

Where do you get your clothes? You have great style!

Thankyou! I love to combine vintage stuff, bargains I find in discount stores, and designer stuff I splurge on from time to time.  On a night out on the town, you might see me in a 50's dress that I paid $15 for and a pair of shoes I paid a couple hundred for, or a men's tuxedo I paid $100 for and a pair of black Chucks..lol.  If it's quality and looks good on my body, I'll wear it.  There's the key...I am not rail thin.  I've got serious curves but, luckily, I'm well proportioned.  I don't try to hide them with what I wear.  However, I must pay attention to choosing clothing that compliments my voluptuous curves.  I like to dress sexy, and yet comfortable.  I love soft textures, and slightly androgenous tailored suits, and period dressing...I love period dressing. Any portion of the beauty esthetics of India, I love...Corsets, of course, are a passion of mine, I wear them often on stage, or when I go out dancing. Lately, I've had a thing for 40's and 50's dresses that look like something sophia loren would have worn....very flattering to my proportions. I like fishnets, and fingerless handgloves as well. I probably own about 30 pairs of those gloves in different fabrics, lengths, and colors. lol...(that's funny) I also always wear something on my person that has a butterfly on it. Always. I never leave home without a butterfly somewhere visible on my body. On any given day you might catch me in any combination of any or all of these things.

Are you a perfectionist?

I guess on some level some might think so.  But I am a very organic artist.  I have very little formal training to speak of.  My singing comes from years of singing in choirs growing up and inspiring artists that I was exposed to as a child.

When I write, I try to do so using flow of consciousness, letting whatever I'm feeling in the moment come out in the song.  I've found that the best recordings of my music are those that were recorded during or immediately after a writing session when the song is first created.  Several of the songs on the album are recorded in this way.   One of which, Things Change, is not at all embellished in any way.  You will hear that there are moments where you'll hear me stumble on a word or two or when it feels like we're freestyling it a bit, and that's because we were recording the actual writing session and that take was one of the very first times we played the entire song all the way through.  That song in particular is also defiant of industry standards for formulaic songwriting in that its structure is not considered a full song, no chorus, no bridge, just verses and a message and a melody.   It might be one of my favorites on the entire album.   I think my organic style of singing is one of my strong points in a day and age where almost everyone is digitally doctoring their vocals even after doing dozens of takes and still wanting to make it perfect.   Some of the most powerful songs on my album are probably the ones where Chico didn't edit out when my voice cracked or I sang a little out of tune due to the emotion coming out of me in the performance.   It is as close as you can come to the way things used to be, when vocals were recorded on tape and there was no time or money to do 100 takes before you got the right one.  Back then you also couldn't auto-tune vocals, or dissect them into pieces and reassemble them into a final product.   I wanted that raw honesty in my performances, even when at times I've been close to cringing when in the heat of the moment I barely hit a note or my diction is not what I'd fantasize I should sound like in a perfect world.

So on that level, I am much less interested in perfection than I am in honesty in my performance.   But everyone's version of perfection is different I suppose.   I've been known to re-record a song that sounded perfectly fine to everyone else because the emotion I wanted to convey got lost in the mix.  I've been known to go to controversial lengths to get myself to that emotional space so that I could sing a song like I mean it, when the emotion was long over in the past in real life.   I've also been known to use method acting techniques to go to that place inside me where nothing is perfect, but everything is truth.

Will you be acting too? Do you have any movie plans?

No, not at this time, however it is a dream of mine to do a rock opera....

Your skin and makeup look flawless. What products do you use?

Lol   I have the worst skin on the planet!   Lol…   I'm using all kinds of products with salicylic acids and such to clear my acne prone skin.

I don't wear much makeup, except when I've gotta rock-star represent if you know what I mean... I use a makeup artist's brand of foundation called Cinema Secrets (I used to be a makeup artist). Bobby Brown or Mac Face Powder. I like Mac eyeshadows (especially the blackest black), and some of their lipglasses, but I love those Lancome Juicy Lipglosses in all those yummy colors and flavors. I also like good ol' fashioned maybelline mascara in the pink tube. I wear liquid liner for that vintage power babe look. I love Nars body oils and bronzer oil. They are exotic and make your skin baby soft and sexy. I'll use any bath and body product that smells like real vanilla. So long as it's not full of harsh chemicals.
